FAQ

Questions about giving, receiving, and everything in between.

What is Mine2Yours?

Mine2Yours is a direct giving platform. We connect people who have usable goods with people who need them — one match at a time. Instead of dropping items off somewhere and hoping they find the right home, you give directly to the person or household your item is meant for.

How does the matching process work?

You tell us what you want to donate or what you need. Our platform looks for a meaningful match based on the item, location, and urgency. Once a match is made, we send the donor a prepaid shipping label. The donor packs the item and ships it. The recipient receives it. That's the whole journey.

What kinds of items can I give?

Clothing, shoes, household goods, baby and children's items, small electronics, books, linens, hygiene products, and gently used tools or outdoor gear are all great fits. If it's clean, usable, and something someone else might genuinely need, it probably belongs here.

Is Mine2Yours a marketplace?

No. Marketplaces are built around buying, selling, and bargaining. Mine2Yours is built around giving. There is no price tag, no haggling, and no transaction between strangers. Just one person with something to give and another person who needs it.

How is this different from donating to a thrift store or charity drive?

Thrift stores and drives play an important role, but they often add distance between the donor and the person who ends up using the item. Mine2Yours removes those layers. You know exactly who your item is going to, and they know someone chose to give it directly to them.

How do I know where my donation is going?

Every match shows the donor exactly who the recipient is and why the item is needed. You ship directly to them, so the path from your hands to theirs is clear from the start. There are no warehouses, resellers, or hidden stops along the way.

Does Mine2Yours take a cut or charge fees?

No. Mine2Yours does not take a percentage of donations, charge platform fees, or resell goods. We are not a large corporate structure collecting money between donors and recipients. Giving and receiving are free.

Who pays for shipping?

Mine2Yours covers the cost of the prepaid shipping label for confirmed matches. Donors do not pay to ship their items, and recipients do not pay to receive them.

How long does a match take?

It depends on what is needed and what is available in our network at the time. Some matches happen within days; others take longer. Urgent disaster relief requests are prioritized so goods move quickly when it matters most.

Can nonprofits or disaster relief organizations use Mine2Yours?

Yes. Nonprofits and relief organizations can request items on behalf of the people they serve, and donors can give directly toward those requests. If you are a nonprofit, mention 'nonprofit' when you contact us and we'll guide you through the process.

What condition do items need to be in?

Items should be clean, functional, and in good enough condition that you would feel comfortable handing them to a neighbor. We ask donors to be honest about wear and tear so recipients know what to expect.
